2010 Summer Program Schedule (Canceled due to Lack of Venue)
|
As long time residents of Point Roberts, we are launching DIGIVATIONS for three weeks in July 2011. Our aim is to provide new enriching experiences for Point Robert’s and visiting/vacationing youth. The program will consist of students ages 7-15 from the US and Canada. Ideally, students would enroll for all three weeks to take advantage of the cohesive curriculum. Allowing students the freedom to pursue other activities in the summer, DIGIVATIONS will poll accepted students for their best availability (Morning or Afternoon):
A typical day: Each day, students would gather at the Lab for three 45 minute instructional classes (Science/Math track, Music track and Games/Robotics) and a 45 minute group project work period. This schedule will repeat in the afternoon. For children who want to stay for both sessions, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. they would bring a bag lunch to the Lab and make a second project with their afternoon group. There will be breaks throughout the day featuring teacher facilitated outdoor game activities to encourage group bonding. There will also be time for students to explore several Point Roberts natural ecosystems (Lilly Point and Beaches). We may also schedule parent sponsored field trips to Vancouver venues, including: Vancouver Science Center, VanDusen Botanical Gardens, Grouse Mountain, UBC museums (Anthropology) and laboratories. Once a week, on Friday afternoons, parents and friends will be invited to the Lab to experience the student’s inventions, games and new music in a works-in-progress setting. Schedules and individual classes will vary according to admitted students backgrounds. Students are combined by level of achievement and interest. To Apply for summer sessions in Point Roberts, WA and Southern, CA.
